Demetrius Garrett is the owner and operator of 716 Elite Lawn Care, a Buffalo-based property-maintenance business serving Buffalo and the surrounding region. Through professional lawn care, cleanup, and grounds maintenance, he helps residents and property owners address physical hazards, restore outdoor spaces, and strengthen pride in the blocks people call home.

A husband, father, New York State Trooper, and music artist known as Whozmeech, Demetrius brings service, creativity, and care for community into each part of his work. His business supports the social determinant of health known as Neighborhood and Built Environment, which recognizes that the places where people live, work, and play shape health, safety, and well-being. By helping create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming spaces, 716 Elite Lawn Care helps elevate joy, reinforces neighborhood pride, and contributes to healthier conditions across Buffalo’s East Side.

For this feature, Fokus’d Kreatives Apprentices researched Demetrius and 716 Elite Lawn Care, developed questions about the connection between property maintenance, neighborhood safety, and community well-being, coordinated pre-production communication and logistics, prepared the interview, and assisted with production on the day of filming.

“Talking with Demetrius showed me that even an overgrown yard versus a clean lawn tells a story-one of neglect versus one of care and pride. It showed me that real storytelling is just paying attention to what’s right in front of us.”
