Buffalo Freedom Gardens
Get Fokus’d Productions partnered with Buffalo Freedom Gardens to produce a poetic digital story centered on the Freedom Food Forest groundbreaking at JFK Park. We captured the power of neighbors, leaders, and volunteers coming together to break ground by using cinematic visuals and community voices to spotlight Buffalo Freedom Gardens’ mission to create food security and end food apartheid alongside BIPOC communities.
The film frames the Food Forest as an expansion of their garden work on Buffalo’s East Side through reconnecting residents to the land, increasing access to affordable fresh produce, and cultivating freedom and resilience through shared community maintenance and care. By documenting this pivotal moment, we helped build awareness for a project designed to reduce health challenges and grow long-term, neighborhood-rooted access to healthy fruits and vegetables where food apartheid is most present.
